Andrew Seppelt Wines | CJ Rhodes | The Dieline
CJ Rhodes designs the labels for a line of Primitivo wine for Andrew Seppelt Wines.
Andrew Seppelt is a winemaker from Barossa Valley, Australia. Seppelt had never seen a Primitivo vine prior to receiving Primitivo Di Goia seeds. When Seppelt aquired a rare clone of Primitivo Di Goia, he relied on his years as a grower and the theory that it was the same as a Zinfandel, to produce a batch of Primitivo wine.
When discovering that Primitivo grapes were not the same as a Zinfandel, Seppelt sought to bring out the natural sweetness from the fruit.
With such sophisticated tasting notes, the packaging needed to reflect that. The labels designed by CJ Rhodes is an update on a classic design. The color palate is mute and dark. Rhodes modernizes the label by using a sans serif font and only uses script on the word “wines.” Script font is often used to accent and emphasize words and by using script on “wines,” Rhodes subtly emphasizes the craft and history behind winemaking.
